No. Our magnets have a smooth, non-abrasive backing that grips your vehicle without any adhesive, so there is no residue and no risk to factory paint or clear coat. To keep paint in top shape, remove the magnet about once a week, wipe both the panel and the magnet clean, and let them dry before reattaching. Avoid placing magnets over dirt, sand, or areas with existing paint chips.

Properly sized magnets stay put at normal highway speeds when placed flat on a clean, smooth steel panel like a door or tailgate. For long trips at 70+ mph we recommend checking that the entire edge is flush with the body. Magnets are not designed for the hood or roof, where wind lift is highest.

With normal use and basic care, our magnets typically last 3 or more years. The printed surface is UV-protected and weather-resistant. Lifespan depends mostly on care — cleaning underneath regularly and storing the magnet flat when it is off the vehicle will keep the colors bright and the backing strong.

Magnets work on steel body panels, which covers most cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans. They will not stick to aluminum, fiberglass, or plastic panels — some newer trucks, EVs, and sports cars use these materials. If you are unsure, hold a household magnet against the door: if it sticks, our magnets will too.

We recommend removing magnets before an automatic car wash, since high-pressure jets and brushes can catch an edge. Rain, snow, and hand washing are no problem. Storing the magnet flat while you wash also lets you clean the panel underneath.
